Jessica Jackson Sloan JD ’11 and #CUT50 Help Pass Prison Reform Bill

On December 21, 2018, President Trump signed into law The First Step Act, a bill supported by a bi-partisan coalition of groups including #Cut50, a bi-partisan national initiative to reduce the prison population co-founded by Jessica Jackson Sloan JD ’11 and Van Jones. The New York Times said the bill will deliver “the most significant changes to the criminal justice system in a generation.” Read more here.

New Grads Sworn-in

Santa Clara Law welcomed alumni to the California Bar at the December 4 Swearing-In Ceremony held in the Mission Santa Clara. Two judges administered the oaths: the Hon. Patricia Lucas, Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Clara; and the Hon Edward Davilla, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
