14 Zeb Zankel joined the firm of Jenner & Block as a partner in their communications, internet, and technology practice, where he represents communications service providers in regulatory, litigation, and transactional matters.

Four Santa Clara Law alumni were selected to the 2020 Top 100 Northern California Super Lawyers list: Niall P. McCarthy JD ’92, Mark Punzalan JD ’06, Timothy L. Thompson JD ’87, and Richard C. Watters JD ’73.

Mary E. Alexander JD ’82 and Mandy Jeffcoach JD ’04 were both named to the Top 50 2020 Women Northern California Super Lawyers list.

IN MEMORIAM

1974 Regina “Gina” D. Leary, May 22, 2020. Gini graduated from the University of Colorado and served two years in Western Samoa as a Peace Corps volunteer. After earning her JD degree from Santa Clara Law, she served as a prosecutor for the DA’s office in Monterey. She later moved to Fresno and worked for the Fresno County District Attorney’s office for thirty years, where she prosecuted and supervised many high profile and serious felony cases. She retired as a Chief Deputy District Attorney in 2009. She kept close ties to her family, friends, work colleagues, sorority sisters, Peace Corps volunteers, and the Fly Fishers for Conservation in Fresno. She is survived by her mother, Teney Leary of Lompoc, CA, brother Tim Leary (wife, Barbara) of Menlo Park, CA, and her nephews Ryan Leary and Keegan Leary.

1975 Julian “Dan” Clarke III, June 22, 2020. Dan died peacefully at home in Carmel Highlands, CA. Born in Fort Sheridan, he and his family settled on the Monterey Peninsula in 1964, where he graduated as valedictorian from Junipero Serra High School before earning his degree in business from Santa Clara University. He then spent four years in the Navy, where he served as an officer aboard the USS Kitty Hawk before returning to Santa Clara Law for his JD degree. After practicing law for many years, he and his wife owned a small local business, and he prepared taxes for more than two decades. He also enjoyed working in building and real estate development. He is survived by his wife, Anna Boles, who supported him for 41 years, his beloved children Adam (Joanna) and Krista (Lance), and his four grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Patricia Clarke Benassi, Barbara Josserand, and Christopher Clarke.
