At Santa Clara Law, August always brings a new class to our community, and this year is no different. Although we are ending a summer that has been unlike any before—with a worldwide pandemic, a national awakening about racial justice, and hundreds of wildfires raging in California—we are also welcoming a diverse, talented, and committed class, ready to get to work learning the law.
This year, Santa Clara Law Professor David Yosifon was appointed to a five-year term as the Peter Canisius SJ Professorship at Santa Clara University. This endowed chair position includes an annual grant to support Yosifon’s research.
In July, Facebook’s Head of Legal Operations and Santa Clara Law adjunct professor Akshay Verma JD ’06 collaborated with a team from Facebook and Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton LLP to launch the Facebook Legal Scholars Program, a 2-day program for diverse incoming law students at Santa Clara Law, USF School of Law, and UC Hastings College of the Law.
